The great man of Kenya who quenches the water thirst of desert animals. Patrick Mwalua True Story.
In a remote desert village in Kenya, there is a man who gives water to wild animals by water bowsers during a drought.
The water he provides quenches the thirst of desert animals during the dry season.
His health is also not good. On top of that, he does all this with the money in his pocket. He has been doing this good work for 5 years now.
“My name is Patrick. I try to prevent animals from dying during the drought”he says.
He is now known as the “King of Water of Kenya”. His name is Patrick Mwalua.
The story begins 5 years ago. Patrick had to go to work every day through a desert area. One day while going to work, he saw an animal that had fallen to the ground and was about to die of thirst.
The animal lay helpless in the middle of the desert, scorched by the heat of the sun. Patrick is not the only one who travels that desert road every day. Other people may have seen the animal as well. They may be looking away.
But Patrick chose a different path. He stopped there and gave the animal water to quench its thirst, wondering how many more such animals were in the desert.
Kenya today is experiencing the effects of climate change. Conserved springs in Kenya are rapidly drying up. Rivers are also disappearing.
“When we were little, it always rained. But in recent times the climate has changed. Rain is very rare, “said Patrick. Weather patterns changed unpredictably fast.
One hundred kilometres with ten thousand litres of water
What can he do as an individual? He made a decision. He had money saved. He rented a bowser. He filled it with fresh water. It was then carried to the middle of the desert and dumped into a dried-up reservoir.
Every day during the dry season he did this. He carries ten thousand litres of water and drives 100 kilometres from home. Then alone, he fills the reservoir with giant hose pipes. One trip costs him $100.
At first, the wild animals looked at him with suspicion. Humanity cannot be trusted.
“I chose to give life to dying animals,” he says. “Even those animals have a right to live.”
Yes, it is always a choice. Either you can look away. Or you can do something about it.
As he did this daily, the animals began to trust him. Not only African elephants, cheetahs, dangerous hippos but also hyenas come to drink this water. Patrick was initially frightened when he was surrounded by wild animals. But over time, they may have come to understand Patrick.
Patrick is not in good health. He has been suffering from kidney disease for eight years. During the dry season, he spends all his money and does a great service every day. Five years is not a short time. The first video with this was shot in 2017. But during this year’s drought in Kenya, Patrick is still quenching the thirst of wild animals.
These are the real heroes who do not praise virtues.
