Another Round 2020 movie review. The film tells the strange story of four high school teachers who use alcohol.
If you are making a movie about drinking, one might think that it is a story about the effects of drinking. Would it be a bad precedent to make a film about a drinking culture?
However, after watching another round of this Danish film made in Denmark, the opinion about it disappears.
To what extent has the term ‘drink’ been applied to works of art? Is a drunkard a person who drinks every day, or a person who drinks excessively when he is drunk? Such arguments can be made.
Another Round talks about how drinking can be a useful substitute for everyday duties. The film tells the strange story of four high school teachers who secretly drink alcohol during school hours and reach an agreement on teaching.
The last bad precedent is more than just talking about drinking. But based on the circumstances of their personal lives, they have included an academic interpretation of how this drink was added to their duties.
Start at the research level the film also warns of where to stop drinking. However, in the end, a touching black comedy has been created. It mixes good humour with a lot of heartfelt stuff as well as sensitivity. It also gets a lot of attention from a large audience.
There is also a very unfortunate point about making a film. Director Thomas Vinterberg based this on a script of his stage play.
But he gets an extra glimpse of what his daughter, Ida, says about the love and attachment that exists in the Danish youth community regarding drinks. Mads Mikkelsen, who starred in one of Vinterberg’s best films, The Hunt (2012), plays Martin’s daughter, who plays the main character in the film.
But 19-year-old Ida dies in a car accident shortly after filming begins. The whole world of the director is falling apart. He is left in a dilemma as to whether to stop the film due to the shock of his daughter’s untimely death or to complete the task for her. Eventually, he can complete the work of the film by shooting with her friends in her actual classroom.
The film’s tribute to her is the highest tribute ever paid to her. Ida’s tragic event had an impact on the film, with the premise that “A celebration of alcohol-based on the thesis that world history would have been different without alcohol” later became “It should not just be about drinking. It was about being awakened to live” the director says that he decided to change the story and re-created the story accordingly.
