Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been defeated in a no-confidence motion against his government. At a special session of the country’s parliament, a motion was moved against the government led by the Prime Minister.
Netanyahu has served as Israel’s prime minister for the past 12 years. Before that, he was the Prime Minister from 1996 to 1999.
Accordingly, a new government is to be formed and it is reported that Naphtali Bennett, a right-wing nationalist from the Yamina Party is to be appointed. He will serve as prime minister until September 2023, after which an agreement was reached to hand over power to Yair Lapid of the Yesh Atid party. He will serve as prime minister for another two years.
Three right-wing parties, two left-wing parties, and the Arab Islamic Conservative Party have joined forces against Netanyahu’s government.
